Apollo Opera Debut
/Joyce will be making her debut with Apollo Opera this Spring, singing the role of feisty Vespetta in Telemann's Pimpinone.
Conceived as an intermezzo, a lighthearted interlude to be performed between acts of a serious opera, Pimpinone was hugely popular after its premier in 1725. It would be a forerunner to later intermezzi such as Pergolesi's La serva padrona.
Pimpinone is presented as part of double-bill with Offenbach's Mariage aux Lanternes. Both works will be performed in English.
Founded in 2009, Apollo Opera stages new and less frequently performed operas for fans of opera and neophytes alike. By increasing exposure of new singers, musicians, and composers, alongside more established and traditional operas, we hope to show audiences the diversity and the wide scope of the opera form.
